The park-museum Wladyslaw Warnenczyk
Varna 9027, kv..Mladost, 3 Yanosh Hunyadi Blvd.
The park-museum Wladyslaw Warnenczyk is a memorial complex, situated in the middle of an unique park. Originally it was established in 1935 as a mausoleum of the Polish-Hungarian King Wladislaw Yagelo (Warnenczyk). The mausoleum was built in a Thracian mound, located on the battlefield near the place where he lost his life on 11 November 1444. The building was made thanks to donations by a Builders’ Committee chaired by the renowned public figure and healer Petar Dimkov.
The museum was open to visitors in 1964 in a new museum building with a rich collection of arms and equipment from 15th century, found on the battlefield (knight’s armours, helmets, cross-bows, swords, shields, spears, etc.).
The museum exposition is situated in four rooms: foyer with paintings and sculptures; armoury room; room dedicated to Yanosh Hunyadi - commander-in-chief of the King Wladislaw’s army and room dedicated to the founders of the mausoleum. In 2004 the museum and the exposition were entirely modernized.
